2. The guide
“Japan, done right.” is a travel guide to Japan in English, 2026–2027 edition, delivered as a PDF file to download. Its content is described on the home page: 7, 14 and 21-day itineraries, city guides, places to stay, eat and visit, budgets, and booking links.
It opens with the PDF reader built into phones, tablets, computers and web browsers. Once downloaded, it works offline. Its links to maps and booking sites need an internet connection.
The prices, opening hours and conditions of other businesses quoted in the guide (hotels, transport, activities, restaurants) are real examples, checked in October 2026. They can change after publication: check them before you book or go.
The guide contains booking links. Some are affiliate links: if you book through them, we earn a commission from the booking site, at no extra cost to you. They are marked “Ad”. The guide also recommends the PlanJapan eSIM, which is sold by our own business. The details are in our Legal notice.
3. Price
The guide costs $29, paid once. There is no subscription and no shipping cost.
The price is in US dollars. If your card uses another currency, your bank may convert the amount and charge its own fees. The price that applies is the one shown on the site when you order.
4. How to order
- On the checkout page, you tick two boxes: you accept these Terms of Sale, and you ask to get the guide immediately after payment while expressly waiving your right of withdrawal (see section 8). You can’t order without ticking both.
- You then pay on Stripe’s secure payment page, where you enter your email address and your payment details. Before you confirm, you can check and correct them, or go back to our site.
- The sale is concluded when your payment is accepted. We keep a record of your order and of your agreement (the exact text, the date, and the version of these terms) for 10 years. You can ask us for a copy at contact@kyliejapan.com.
5. Payment
You pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, on the secure payment page of Stripe, our payment provider. Your card is charged when you order. We never see your full card number.
6. Delivery and access
The guide is delivered right after payment: your personal access page opens, and you download the guide from there. We also email you a confirmation of your order, with the link to this page, at the address you entered on the payment page.
- Each download button works for 30 minutes. After that, reload your access page to get a new one.
- Save the PDF on your device: it’s yours to keep. Your access page also lets you download it again later.
- Lost your link? Write to contact@kyliejapan.com from the address you used to pay, and we will send it again.
- To keep the guide from being shared widely, the number of downloads per order is limited. If you reach the limit, write to us.
- If your order is refunded, or if your bank reverses your payment, your access page closes.
7. Your license to use the guide
The guide is for your personal, non-commercial use. You can keep it on all your devices and print it for yourself.
You may not resell, share, publish or distribute it, in whole or in part, or share your access link, without our written permission. Its texts and images are protected by copyright. If an access link is shared publicly, we may deactivate it and send a new one to the buyer’s email address.
8. Right of withdrawal
Consumers in the European Union normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. This right does not apply to digital content that is not supplied on a physical medium, like this guide, once its supply has begun with the consumer’s prior express consent and acknowledgment that they lose this right (French Consumer Code, article L221-28 13°; EU Directive 2011/83/EU, article 16(m)).
That’s why, before paying, you tick a separate box to ask for the guide immediately after payment and to expressly waive your 14-day right of withdrawal. Without this box, you can’t order. Your order confirmation email repeats this agreement.
As a result, once the guide has been made available to you, you can no longer withdraw from the purchase.
9. Refunds
Because the guide is delivered immediately, sales are final: we don’t refund the guide once it has been delivered, except in these two cases:
- The file is defective, or you can’t access it: we fix the problem or send you a corrected file. If we can’t, we refund you in full.
- You paid twice by mistake: we refund the extra payment.
To ask, write to contact@kyliejapan.com. Refunds go back to the card or payment method you used, at the latest 14 days after we accept your request. A refunded order’s access page closes. These cases don’t limit your legal rights (section 10). Our Refund policy sums this up.
10. Legal guarantees (French law)
If you buy as a consumer, the legal guarantees of French law apply. The seller responsible for them is Arthur Duveau, sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel) trading as Artixia, 18 rue Paul Bloch, 95240 Cormeilles-en-Parisis, France. To use them, write to contact@kyliejapan.com. The text below is the information that French law requires us to give you.
You have two years from the supply of the digital content to obtain the legal guarantee of conformity if a lack of conformity appears. For one year from the date of supply, you only have to show that the lack of conformity exists, not when it appeared.
The legal guarantee of conformity includes the obligation to provide all the updates needed to keep the digital content in conformity.
The legal guarantee of conformity gives you the right to have the digital content brought into conformity without undue delay after your request, free of charge and without major inconvenience to you.
You can get a price reduction and keep the digital content, or end the contract and get a full refund in exchange for giving up the digital content, if:
- the seller refuses to bring the digital content into conformity;
- bringing the digital content into conformity is unjustifiably delayed;
- the digital content can’t be brought into conformity without costs imposed on you;
- bringing the digital content into conformity causes you major inconvenience;
- the lack of conformity persists despite the seller’s unsuccessful attempt to fix it.
You are also entitled to a price reduction or to end the contract when the lack of conformity is so serious that it justifies an immediate price reduction or termination. You then don’t have to ask for the digital content to be brought into conformity first.
When the lack of conformity is minor, you can cancel the contract only if the contract does not require you to pay a price.
Any period during which the digital content is unavailable while it is being brought back into conformity suspends the remaining guarantee period, until the conforming digital content is supplied again.
These rights result from articles L224-25-1 to L224-25-31 of the French Consumer Code.
A seller who obstructs the legal guarantee of conformity in bad faith faces a civil fine of up to 300,000 euros, which can be raised to 10% of its average annual turnover (French Consumer Code, article L242-18-1).
You also benefit from the legal guarantee against hidden defects, under articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for two years from the discovery of the defect. This guarantee gives you the right to a price reduction if you keep the digital content, or to a full refund in exchange for giving it up.
11. Responsibility
We are responsible for supplying the guide as described, and for the guarantees above.
The guide gives travel information and recommendations. It is not legal, medical or financial advice. Rules can change after publication, especially entry, visa, customs and health rules: check them with official sources before you travel.
Hotels, booking sites, transport companies, restaurants and the other businesses mentioned in the guide are independent from us, except PlanJapan (see our Legal notice). When you book or buy from them, your contract is with them, under their own terms.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer, or our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited.
12. Personal data
We use the data of your order to sell you the guide, give you access to it and keep our accounts. Our Privacy policy explains what we keep, why, and for how long.
13. Questions and complaints
For any question or complaint, write to us first at contact@kyliejapan.com, with your order reference if you have it. We will look for a solution with you.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. This choice doesn’t take away the protection you get from the mandatory consumer laws of the country, or US state, where you live. If a dispute can’t be settled amicably, it goes to the courts that have jurisdiction under the law.
If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the law or the guide changes. The version that applies to your order is the one you accepted at checkout, and we keep a copy of each version. This version is dated October 17, 2026.
